- The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof.
- My friend, if this man had been guilty of the worst murder that can be conceived of, I might, perhaps, have pardoned him. You know the weakness of my nature — always open to the appeals of repentance or of grief; and with such a touching letter and such recommendations, I could not resist. But any man who would go to Africa and snatch from a mother her children to sell them into interminable bondage, merely for the sake of pecuniary gain, shall never receive pardon from me.
- As much as people would like to believe otherwise, love incorporates more than just the spirit. People believe the outward appearance to be an accurate reflection of what's inside. Love isn't really blind...just selectively nearsighted.
- Whatever your difficulties in mathematics, I assure you mine are still greater.
- Ever since I served as an infantryman in the first World War, I have had a great dislike of those who, themselves in ease and safety, issue exhortations to men in the front lines. As a result, I have a great reluctance to say much about temptations to which I myself am not exposed. No man, I suppose, is tempted to every sin.

Post 1.4
This is, as far as I can see, the only time I'll be posting twice in one day. I am not sure that justice is balance, but it's a good place to start looking for it.

Sorry about the early posting. I took the time of the post to mean I could delay it.
#5 says so much more than just talking about war and politics. I interperet it as a way of saying "don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes." How do I know what's best for the soldiers if I've never personally experienced the military. The problem is, I can use my vote and it can affect them. Who do I listen to for good advice? Who is right? Is there a right? We saw earlier there was no good war.
Now I am sure of it.....you are getting the #4 quotes from Albert Einstein.
I like what #1 in this series says. A friend of ours boils it down a bit further to, "There's the family you're born with and then there's the family you choose."
Dave...I have not decided about a 5 or 7 day week yet. I'm leaning toward 7, but we'll see. As for who said what, I'd prefer to reveal that at the end of each week, if that's all right. If you're on the edge of your seat, toss me an email.
Pari...the author's intent in that case was to explain why he, personally, does not discuss things about which he does not know---or, at least, does not know enough. I agree that its implications are far reaching.
Jenni...you guessed it...although I thought yesterday gave it away. He's one of my favorites.
Everyone, meet Pari (my new officemate.) Pari, meet everyone (my true family.) Pari is a Taurus, she likes long walks on the beach, and finds natural redheads mildly attractive.
